Seoraksan and Gangwon 설악산 · 강원 · The north-east mountains

Seoraksan is a national park of granite ridges in the north-east, a couple of hours from Seoul by road verify. In mid-October the maples turn and the trails get very busy; we plan weekday walks and early starts.

Below the mountains are the fishing port of Sokcho and the east-coast beaches. Gangneung, to the south, has a coffee street, old pine forests and a pavilion on a lake.
